Flat Fee Divorces and Various Options

For the past several years, the biggest complaints, I hear from clients is the billing per hour for divorces and I am not alone. Many attorneys have issues with their clients in divorce or paternity or child support cases because clients dislike the monthly billing and invoicing that the attorneys have become so attached to. Well, I say, if its broke, fix it!
I am changing the structure of my firms billing to have only flat fee billing, i.e. if you have a divorce with children and property, it will cost a certain amount and there will not be any billing. Payment plans will be available and discounts for the payment of the flat fee retainer up front. There are many options to choose from like a Collaborative Divorce or a divorce with only a mediator and no attorneys (Divorce Bridge) instead of the traditional litigation dirovre which ends up with a very negative result for the children. There is peace of mind in knowing how much is hte most that your divorce attorney will charge you especially when you are already stressed about how to divide your assets with your spouse and how you will support yourself wihout having an open-ended billing system from your attorney which only causes more stress. At my firm, we are more concerned with the client’s satisfaction than about making every penny we can.
